This dish has always been a staple on our dinner table. It’s one of those no-brainer recipes, really. And…everything comes out very sophisticated when you have the word “steak” written all over it.
Pork Steak with Sauteed Spinach
Yield: 2 servings
Prep time: 3 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
3 teaspoons olive oil, divided
2 pork steaks, 1/2-inch thick, bone-in
1 garlic clove, minced
1 pound fresh spinach, washed and leaves damp
salt & pepper, to taste
1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds, optional
1. Season both steaks with salt and pepper. Heat a sauté pan over medium heat and coat with one teaspoon of olive oil. When the oil is hot, lay both the steaks and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on each side.
2. Coarsely chop the spinach and stalks.
3. Heat another large sauté pan over medium heat and add the remaining oil. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
4. Add the damp spinach to the pan. Cover, and cook until spinach just begins to wilt, 4 to 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds, if using.
5. Serve immediately.
